MyShield is designed to sit in front of your existing inbox, not replace it.
What That Means
You do not move your mailbox to MyShield.
You keep using your normal provider, and MyShield forwards alias mail to the email address on your account.
That makes it compatible with the common setup people already have:
- Gmail or Google Workspace
- Outlook or Microsoft 365
- iCloud Mail
- Proton Mail
- Fastmail
- Zoho
- self-hosted inboxes that can receive normal internet email
What MyShield Does Not Require
- no OAuth access to your inbox
- no browser extension
- no IMAP or SMTP reconfiguration in your mail client
- no mailbox migration
Important Accuracy Note
Compatibility here means MyShield can hand mail off to your destination provider using normal mail delivery flows.
It does not mean MyShield controls how that provider handles spam filtering, inbox placement, tabs, Focused Inbox, or other downstream behavior. Those decisions still belong to the destination provider.
One Inbox Per Account
In the current product, your aliases forward to the email address on your MyShield account. The app does not currently expose per-alias forwarding destinations.
So the right mental model is:
many aliases -> one MyShield account -> one destination inbox
Paid Features Still Apply
On Pro and Business, you can add labels, pause/resume aliases, reply from aliases, and use custom domains while still keeping your existing inbox provider.
